Our Founder

"After 12 years as a Liaison between the home, school and community; many home visits, parent contacts and assessments of the needs of children and families. I founded Aspiring, Beautiful and Confident Girls, Inc. in 2007. I decided to remove the limitations that stood between my calling, desire and passion to do more. When you hear a little girl's story second hand is one thing. But when you walk into a home and witness it first hand for yourself, it becomes a reality." –Michelliah McCraney

Michelliah McCraney is a published author, parent educator, mentor, inspirational speaker, a mother, and grandmother. She was born and raised in South Florida. She majored in "Early Childhood Education" at Miami-Dade Community College. She has worked in Florida's Public School System in Miami-Dade, Broward and Alachua County using her skills to enhance the lives of children and families.

Programs

Our Curriculum

ABC Inc. Curriculum is ideal for all-girls mentoring or youth program. The curriculum focuses on: character development, etiquette (appropriate) behavior, and social skills. Bullying, identity crisis and peer pressure. Health and wellness, ridding of low self-esteem; instilling moral values, responsibility, faith and confidence in girls.

"I AM!"

...is a three part series with a workbook and journal.
  • "I AM!" is a unique curriculum tailored to teach girls (youth) who they are.
  • "I AM!" It is fun, interesting, age-appropriate and empowering.
  • "I AM!" empowers girls to make positive and not popular choices.
  • "I AM!" Educate Equip and Empower Girls to become all that they already are.
  • "I AM!" is a Mentors Guide and a Mentee/Girl's best friend!
  • "I AM!" is the perfect tool for aspiring girls with low self-esteem, dealing with peer pressure, or experiencing an identity crisis. Overall, "I AM!" is perfect for Character Development.
  • "I AM!" provide girls with "truths" about who they are in simple terms.
  • "I AM!" reach girls on a spiritual level and encourage faith.
  • "I AM!" encourages girls to express themselves through journaling.

Journaling

"I AM!" encourages girls to express themselves through journaling. And because we believe "journaling" is therapeutic. Journaling is a part of our curriculum. During our journaling time girls are able to savor moments that inspired them, express their thoughts and or feelings, and journal from the heart.

We believe grade school is a good time for girls to begin the process of establishing their identities. That is why we equip our girls from childhood and prepare them for adulthood.

Group Mentoring

  • Girls build bonds that can ultimately develop friendships, social skills, and rid insecurities that are often hidden in girls.
  • Girls form a trust, as well as a dialogue between one another that help them make better choices, identify inner beauty, strengths and weaknesses, and become less judgmental of themselves and others.
  • Girls learn how to accept, support and enjoy one another. Such skills allow them to complement one another and become a cheerleader for one another's success or accomplishments.
  • Girls develop honor in being a girl through group mentoring. While all will develop character, others identity will be restored.

  • OBJECTIVES
  • Fostering effective relationships in girls (youth) mentoring program that will provide good leadership and role models they can emulate.
  • Girls (Youth) with low self-esteem can be considered at-risk because of how they view or compare themselves to others. Becoming a part of a mentoring program can restore such characteristics.
  • Girls (Youth) that may be facing an identity crisis can be considered at-risk especially when there's a void of relationship with biological parents or loss of family engagement. Becoming a part of a mentoring program can help to restore her identity.
  • Girls (Youth) that demonstrate poor conduct in school, and are labeled as a result of it can be considered at-risk. Becoming a part of a mentoring program can help develop etiquette behavior through exposure to new environments.
  • Girls (Youth) that tend to seek attention that return to them negatively can be considered at-risk. Becoming a part of a mentoring program that matches youth and mentors by personalities, circumstances and experiences to which they both can relate, can be beneficial.
  • Girls (Youth) that lack responsibility and always blame others for their actions can be considered at-risk. Becoming a part of a mentoring program that will hold them accountable to and for their actions and choices can be beneficial.
  • Self-Respect is Key. Girls (Youth) that lack self-respect can be considered at risk. Becoming a part of a mentoring program can restore or encourage such respect. When girls (youth) possess self-respect, they too can demonstrate respect for others.
  • Primarily girls have the ability to help one another discover gifts, creativity and leadership qualities they each possess. But often time they need mentors that possess and demonstrate such qualities. Without the support of such adult mentors, it may be difficult for girls to express themselves genuinely and less dramatically toward one another.
  • Girls (Youth) that are latch key kids, from a single-parent home, or being raised by a grandparent, with less structure at home or parental advisement or involvement can be considered at-risk. Such girls because of the circumstances may be exposed or inclined to become sexually active, or influenced by peers to experiment with drugs or alcohol, skip school, join or hang out with a gang (clique) at an early age. Becoming a part of a mentoring program can help those girls set goals and develop an action plan that will help them to remain stable.
